Who are the Links?
THE LINKS INCORPORATED
The Links, Incorporated has a membership of over 12,000 professional women of color in 272 chapters located throughout the U.S. in 40 states, the District of Columbia, the Bahamas, Germany and South Africa. It was co-founded by the late Margaret R. Hawkins and Sarah S. Scott in 1946 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. We are a volunteer organization of accomplished, dedicated women who are active and making a difference in the communities. The Links, Incorporated consists of four main program areas which include: Services to Youth, the Arts, International Trends and Services and National Trends and Services. The Links, Incorporated has a long history of promoting and engaging in educational, civic and inter-cultural activities in order to enrich the lives of members of the larger community. |

THE LINKS FOUNDATION
The Foundation was established in 1979 to enhance and expand the philanthropic endeavors of The Links, Inc. The Foundation provides grants to innovative programs that address problems to be solved, or opportunities to be seized that are of regional, national or international significance. The Foundation seeks proposals that provide creative responses to the changing needs in the general fields of health, education, social services, cultural and international affairs that are beneficial to communities of African descent. The Foundation is a non-profit corporation operated exclusively for charitable and educational purposes within the meaning of Section 501(c) (3) of the Internal Revenue Code 1954, as amended.
THE EASTERN AREA
The Eastern Area includes Connecticut, Delaware, Germany, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Virginia and Washington, DC. The Eastern Area continues to further this sixty-year tradition of Friendship and Service with over 2500 members.
SOUTHERN MARYLAND CHAIN CHAPTER
Southern Maryland Chain Chapter, the Links Incorporated was chartered May 15, 1982. The tri-county chapter includes Calvert, Charles and St. Mary's counties. The visionary and founder of the chapter, was the late Albertine T. Lancaster. Elfreda T. Mathis was the first president. The chapter has 31 members, 12 of whom are charter members.

LINKS EMBLEM

The emblem is a symbol that The LINKS will continue to expand into cities and countries all over the world. It involves women all working toward goals and ideals set up by the National Body and thus forming a continuous Link of "friendship" and "dedication" encircling the globe.
